Masonry is the one landscape element that becomes more beautiful with age. In Arizona's punishing climate, the difference between a good job and a cheap one is measured in decades, not years.

Applications.

Retaining wall
01

Retaining Walls

Engineered through caliche hardpan. Proper footings, drain rock backfill, weep holes — never skipped. Up to 6ft+ with structural drawings and permit.

Seat wall
02

Seat Walls

18-inch height, travertine or bluestone caps. Defines outdoor rooms, replaces portable seating permanently.

Fire feature
03

Fire Features

Gas fire pits, tables, fireplace surrounds. Refractory liners, licensed gas connections.

Outdoor kitchen
04

Outdoor Kitchens

CMU structural core only — no wood framing. Gas, electric, water rough-in before the slab. Stone veneer, stucco, or tile finish.

We only build
with what lasts.

Arizona's heat cycles, alkaline soil, and monsoon saturation create a punishing environment. We've narrowed our material palette to what performs over decades — not just the first season.

// How We Build It

Our Masonry
Process.

01

Site Assessment

We probe soil depth, locate caliche layers, assess drainage patterns, and photograph the site from multiple angles. Nothing gets drawn until we understand what the ground is actually doing.

Site assessment
02

Engineering & Permits

Any wall over 30 inches gets engineered drawings and a pulled permit. We manage this end-to-end — it protects your investment and ensures the structure actually stands after the first monsoon.

Engineering plans
03

Foundation & Core

Footings poured to depth, rebar set, CMU block laid, cells grouted solid. The structure is complete and cured before a single finish material is applied. No cosmetic shortcuts over a weak core.

Foundation work
04

Finish & Seal

Scratch coat, veneer or stucco, cap installation, full sealing before we leave the site. Every exposed masonry surface gets the correct sealer — natural stone, stucco, and block each require different products.

We've had contractors ghost us mid-project twice. Easy Landscape showed up every day, called us with updates before we had to ask, and the wall looks exactly like the design — after two monsoon seasons.

// Common Questions

Masonry
FAQ.

Any retaining wall over 30 inches typically requires a permit and engineered drawings in Arizona. We handle this start-to-finish. Walls under 30 inches generally don't require a permit — but we still build them with proper drainage and reinforcement.
A properly reinforced, sealed, and drained CMU wall can last 50+ years. The failures we see are almost always missing drainage (hydrostatic pressure from behind) or under-reinforced block with no rebar or grout. Both are non-negotiable in every structure we build.
For large veneer applications, quality manufactured stone is often the smarter call — lighter, consistent, visually indistinguishable. For caps, stepping stones, and focal accents, we prefer natural travertine or flagstone. We'll make a specific recommendation after seeing your project.
Seat walls: $80–120/linear ft. Retaining walls: $120–200+/linear ft depending on height and conditions. Outdoor kitchens: $8,000–12,000 base. Fire features: $3,500–9,000. Privacy walls: $60–140/linear ft. Free on-site quote with real numbers for your project.
Yes — and the best outdoor spaces almost always combine both. Seat walls bordering paver areas, kitchens adjacent to patio slabs, fire features at the hardscape perimeter. We coordinate material choices with your existing finishes so everything reads as a unified design.
